What you can do
Connect Pursyn once, and your assistant can work with the resumes and experience you keep in Pursyn. Ask in your own words, and mention Pursyn so the assistant knows where to look:
- "Tailor my Pursyn resume to this job posting: …"
- "Which of my Pursyn job matches fit best?"
- "Add my new role at … to my Pursyn library."
- "Run a mock interview for this role based on my Pursyn resume."
- "Export my resume as a PDF."
The assistant can't permanently delete your resumes or experience. See Permissions and privacy for what it can read and change.
Before you start
- A Pursyn account. Create one if you don't have one yet, and add some of your experience so the assistant has something to work with.
- The Pursyn server URL. You paste it into your assistant once:
https://app.pursyn.com/mcp
When you connect, a Pursyn window opens. You sign in there and choose what the assistant may do. Your assistant never sees your Pursyn password.
ChatGPT
In ChatGPT, Pursyn is an app.
- On chatgpt.com, open Settings → Apps → Advanced settings and turn on Developer mode.
- Select Create, name the app Pursyn, paste
https://app.pursyn.com/mcp, and keep OAuth as the authentication. - Sign in to Pursyn in the window that opens and select Authorize.
- In a chat, open + and turn on Pursyn.
Availability: Developer mode is available on some paid ChatGPT plans, not on Free. In Business, Enterprise, and Edu workspaces, an admin controls who can use it.
If your menus look different, follow OpenAI's current instructions.
Claude
In Claude on the web or in the desktop app, Pursyn is a custom connector.
- Open Settings → Connectors (Customize → Connectors on newer accounts) and select Add custom connector.
- Name it Pursyn, paste
https://app.pursyn.com/mcp, keep the default sign-in options, and select Add. - Select Connect, sign in to Pursyn, and select Authorize.
- In a chat, open + → Connectors and turn on Pursyn.
Availability: The Free plan allows one custom connector. On Team and Enterprise plans, an Owner adds Pursyn under Organization settings → Connectors, and then each member connects their own Pursyn account.
If your menus look different, follow Anthropic's current instructions.
Gemini
In Gemini, Pursyn is a custom app under Connected Apps.
- On a computer, open gemini.google.com and go to Settings → Connected Apps. If you don't see Connected Apps, open Personal Intelligence first.
- Under Custom apps, select Add a custom app, paste
https://app.pursyn.com/mcp, and select Next. - Sign in to Pursyn and select Authorize.
- Pursyn now works in the Gemini mobile app too.
Availability: You need to be 18 or older and in the US, use a personal Google Account (not a work or school account), have Keep Activity on, and use Gemini in English.
If your menus look different, follow Google's current instructions.
Grok
In Grok, Pursyn is a connector.
- Open grok.com/connectors and select New Connector → Custom.
- Paste
https://app.pursyn.com/mcpand add the connector. - Sign in to Pursyn and select Authorize.
Availability: Custom connectors may require a paid Grok plan. On Grok Business, an admin adds Pursyn under Connectors → Other.
If your menus look different, follow xAI's current instructions.
Developer tools
Pursyn is a remote MCP server at https://app.pursyn.com/mcp (Streamable HTTP). Clients
that support MCP OAuth open your browser to sign in to Pursyn. For a client
without OAuth, use a personal access token.
Claude Code
claude mcp add --transport http pursyn https://app.pursyn.com/mcp
Then run /mcp in Claude Code, select pursyn, and sign in. Add
--scope user to the command to use Pursyn in every project.
Cursor
Or add Pursyn to ~/.cursor/mcp.json for every project, or to
.cursor/mcp.json for one:
{
"mcpServers": {
"pursyn": {
"url": "https://app.pursyn.com/mcp"
}
}
}
Cursor asks you to sign in to Pursyn the first time it connects.
Codex CLI
codex mcp add pursyn --url https://app.pursyn.com/mcp
codex mcp login pursyn
The login command opens your browser to sign in to Pursyn.
Gemini CLI
gemini mcp add --transport http --scope user pursyn https://app.pursyn.com/mcp
Gemini CLI opens your browser to sign in the first time it connects. To sign
in again later, run /mcp auth pursyn in Gemini CLI.
Personal access tokens
For a tool that can't sign in with OAuth, create a token in Pursyn under Settings → Account → Connected AI apps → Developer tools → Generate manual access token. Pursyn shows the token once, and the panel includes ready-made settings for Claude Code and Cursor. Send the token in a header:
Authorization: Bearer px_pat_…
For example, in Claude Code:
claude mcp add --transport http pursyn https://app.pursyn.com/mcp --header "Authorization: Bearer px_pat_…"
A token lasts 30 days, 90 days, or until you revoke it, as you choose. Keep it private, like a password.
Permissions and privacy
Before you connect, Pursyn shows what the assistant is asking for:
- Read access, always included: your profile, career overview, library material, resumes, and job matches.
- Write access: add and update library material, build and tailor resumes, and export PDFs.
- AI tailoring: run Pursyn's own AI tailoring, which counts toward your plan's tailoring allowance the same way tailoring in Pursyn does.
- Private writing context: the private notes and writing context you keep on your experience. This one has its own checkbox. Clear it, and Pursyn removes your private notes before anything reaches the assistant. Private notes never appear on a resume or PDF either way.
An assistant can't permanently delete your resumes or library material. When you ask it to remove something, Pursyn moves it to the archive or trash, where you can restore it. An assistant also can't change your password, email, plan, or billing, and it can't delete your account.
What the assistant reads from Pursyn goes to that assistant's provider, such as OpenAI, Anthropic, Google, or xAI. Their terms and privacy policy cover it from there.
Every connected app and access token is listed in Pursyn under Settings → Account → Connected AI apps. Select Revoke to disconnect one. Changing your Pursyn password or email disconnects every connected app, so connect again afterward.
Troubleshooting
I can't find the menu
Custom apps and connectors depend on your plan, region, and account type, and vendors roll them out gradually. Check the availability note in your assistant's section above. Vendors also rename menus often, so each section links to the vendor's current instructions.
Sign-in keeps looping or the window closes
- Sign in at app.pursyn.com in the same browser first, then connect again.
- Allow pop-ups and cookies for app.pursyn.com. Private windows and strict blockers can drop the sign-in.
- On the Pursyn approval screen, check the account name. Select Switch account if it's the wrong one.
- If Pursyn says it cannot authorize this connection, remove Pursyn from your assistant and add it again.
Pursyn is connected, but the assistant doesn't use it
- Turn Pursyn on for the chat. In ChatGPT and Claude, it's under +.
- Start a new chat after connecting.
- Mention Pursyn by name, as in "my Pursyn resume".
- If it still doesn't respond, reconnect Pursyn.
Reconnect Pursyn
Your assistant loses its connection to Pursyn when you change your Pursyn password or email, when you revoke it in Settings, or after 90 days without use. To reconnect, remove or disconnect Pursyn in your assistant's apps or connectors, then add it again with the same server URL.
